What it actually means that a letter takes hours.
A slow mail app. You write a letter, pick a homing pigeon and send it off. Instead of an instant chat you get a delivery that really travels, and the waiting is the point.
As long as the trip would really take a bird. Pigeons in the app fly at 70-80 km/h, so a hundred kilometres is about an hour and a half, and a cross-country letter takes most of a day. A daytime pigeon sleeps at night, so a long flight can spill into the next morning.
No. No bird goes anywhere. The flight is simulated on a real map, over the real distance, with the real weather along the route. The pigeons are drawn, the delay is genuine.
Nothing. Downloading the app and sending letters is free.
Android and iOS. Download it from Google Play or the App Store.
Daytime flies by day, nocturnal after dusk, electronic is ultra-fast. Hand-flown ones you steer yourself, future birds deliver on a date you choose, and invite carriers are for inviting friends to the app.
Yes. The map shows the live position, kilometres flown, speed, wind, weather and a flight log. There is also a 3D view from behind the wing.
